Kyrgyz ex-president says ready to resist any attempt to arrest him

BISHKEK, June 28. /TASS/: Kyrgyzstan’s ex-president Almazbek Atambayev said he would resist any attempt to arrest him, commenting on the parliament’s decision to strip him of immunity on Thursday.

"Law enforcement officers had informed me about my arrest being prepared. I’m ready to anything and I will resist," he said, adding that he had some "weapons of honor" presented to him as a reward.

The former president said many officers have voiced support for him, but many others are ready to follow orders, even illegitimate ones.

India-Pakistan ties at lowest point: Imran Khan

June 14, 2019; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Pakistan's relationship with India is probably at its "lowest point", Prime Minister Imran Khan has said even as he expressed hope that his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, will use his "big mandate" to resolve all differences, including the Kashmir issue.

Khan and Modi are in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek for the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

Indian PM Modi arrives in Bishkek

Bishkek, Jun 13 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived here in the Kyrgyz capital for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the first multilateral engagement post his re-election.

Modi, in a statement before his two-day visit to Bishkek from June 13-14, said that on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, he also plans to meet several leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Kyrgyzstan’s troops hold joint drills with Russian combat aviation

BISHKEK, March 28. /TASS/. Servicemen of Russia’s Kant air base in Kyrgyzstan jointly with the Kyrgyz military are conducting drills in the Central Asian republic’s territory, the General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces said on Thursday.

"Formations and units of the Air Defense Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Armed Forces are holding tactical drills across the entire republic jointly with the Russian air base in the city of Kant," the statement said. The drills will be wrapped up on March 28, according to the General Staff.

Russia, Kyrgyzstan sign agreement on energy cooperation worth $1.5 bln

BISHKEK, March 27. /TASS/. Russia and Kyrgyzstan have signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of hydropower industry worth $1.5 bln, a source in the Kyrgyz Economy Ministry’s press service told TASS on Wednesday.

"The Investment Promotion and Protection Agency and Russia’s Ruselprom have signed a memorandum on cooperation worth $1.5 bln," the source said.

Putin arrives in Kyrgyzstan for state visit

BISHKEK, March 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan for a state visit on Thursday.

The Russian president is due to hold talks in Bishkek with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov, and later the two leaders will take part in the Russian-Kyrgyz international conference and visit the museum of Soviet and Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
