BISHKEK, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said late Thursday he was ready to resign after the appointment of new heads of executive bodies and the country's return to the legal order.

"We need to return the situation to the legal order as soon as possible. After the appointment of legitimate heads of the executive bodies and the country's return to the legal order, I am ready to leave the post of the president of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan," Jeenbekov said, as quoted by his press service.

Moscow, Oct 7 (AP/PTI) Officials in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday nullified the results of a weekend parliamentary election after mass protests erupted in the capital of Bishkek and other cities, with opposition supporters seizing government buildings overnight and demanding a new vote.

Hundreds of people were injured, one fatally.

BISHKEK, October 6. /TASS/: Kyrgyzstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has declared the outcome of the October 4 parliamentary elections invalid.

"In connection with numerous violations during the vote and the pre-election period, a decision was made at a meeting of the Central Election Commission’s members to declare the elections invalid," the commission’s press service told TASS on Tuesday.

BISHKEK (Reuters) - Kyrgyzstan held a parliamentary election on Sunday with many voters disillusioned with the political elite and anxious about the worst economic crisis in two decades.

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov’s supporters look likely to win a significant number of seats in the legislature in the Central Asian country, a close ally of Russia.

But the current pro-presidential ruling coalition is certain to be upset due to internal splits in the two major political groups, testing the president’s ability to forge new political alliances.

BISHKEK, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan has allowed citizens from 31 countries, including China, to enter, the republican headquarters on COVID-19 said on Friday.

There is a decrease in COVID-19 cases and a stabilization of the epidemiological situation in these countries, the headquarters said.

BISHKEK, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's new government led by Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov took the oath of office on Tuesday.

The oath-taking ceremony was held in parliament with the participation of President Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

Congratulating the members of the new government, President Jeenbekov expressed hope that they will be faithful to their oath and do everything for the country's development.

BISHKEK, June 23. /TASS/: Kyrgyzstan’s former President Almazbek Atambayev has been convicted to 11 years and two months behind bars, his attorney Sergei Slesarev told TASS on Tuesday.

"Bishkek’s Pervomaisky District Court has found Atambayev guilty and sentenced him to 11 years and two months in prison," he said, adding that the court also ruled to confiscate his property.

According to the attorney, Atambayev’s defense will challenge this sentence with a higher instance court.

BISHKEK, June 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Kyrgyzstan’s ruling coalition, on Tuesday, nominated Kubatbek Boronov, for the post of prime minister, after his predecessor Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev resigned, on Monday, following allegations of corruption.

Speaking in parliament, Boronov said that, the new government would be “technical” and work until the formation of a new parliament.

He said, his cabinet would focus efforts on tackling the spread of COVID-19, and preparing for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for Oct 4.

BISHKEK, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A new vice prime minister and a new health minister have been appointed in Kyrgyzstan, according to the decrees signed by President Sooronbai Jeenbekov on Wednesday.

Aida Ismailova will hold the post of vice prime minister for social affairs, and Sabirzhan Abdikarimov will serve as the health minister, the president's press service said.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz Parliament approved the two nominees recommended by Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev.
