Vietnam’s Auto Sales Up 31 Percent In Four Months

HANOI, May 14 (NNN-VNA) – A total of 132,865 units of automobiles were sold in the Vietnamese market in the first four months of this year, up 31 percent, year on year, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

Sales of domestically assembled automobiles surged 38 percent to 79,442 units, while those of imported ones rose 22 percent, year on year, to 53,423, according to the association’s monthly sales report released Thursday.

Vietnam’s Textiles, Garments Export Up 21.6 Percent In Past Four Months

HANOI, May 7 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam earned nearly 11.8 billion U.S. dollars from exporting textiles and garments, in the first four months of this year, up 21.6 percent from the same period last year, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday.

In Apr alone, Vietnam’s textile and garment export rose 25.4 percent, year on year, to around 3.1 billion dollars.

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, estimated that the country would reap 42 to 43.5 billion dollars from exporting textiles and garments this year.

Malaysian PM arrives in Vietnam for two-day official visit

HANOI, March 20 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived here Sunday for a two-day official visit to Vietnam.

The Prime Minister’s maiden official visit to Vietnam was at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh.

Ismail Sabri flew in from Kuala Lumpur and arrived at the Hanoi International Airport at 1.45 pm (local time). He was greeted upon arrival by Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son and government officials.

Vietnam drops COVID-19 restrictions for foreign visitors

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — Vietnam on Wednesday scrapped quarantine and other travel restrictions for foreign visitors in an effort to fully reopen its border after two years of pandemic-related closure, the government said.

Visitors entering the Southeast Asian country only need to show a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival, according to the Health Ministry, which said the new measures were effective immediately.

Vietnam Reports 15,236 New COVID-19 Cases, 1,508,473 In Total

HANOI, Dec 18 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 15,236 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, including 15,215 locally transmitted and 21 imported, according to its Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were recorded in southern localities, including 1,246 in Ben Tre province, 1,071 in Ca Mau province and 1,040 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The infections brought the country’s total tally to 1,508,473, with 29,103 deaths, said the ministry. Nationwide, 1,095,518 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 31,057 from Thursday.

Vietnam To Resume Int’l Flights From Jan, 2022

HANOI, Dec 11 (NNN-VNA) – The Vietnamese government approved the resumption of regular commercial flights between Vietnam and international destinations, which are highly safe from COVID-19, from Jan 1, 2022.

According to the latest notice by the Vietnamese government, the destinations included those in China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and the United States.

Vietnam welcomes 1st tourists to resort island after 2 years

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — More than 200 foreign tourists arrived on Vietnam’s largest Phu Quoc island on Saturday, the first to visit the Southeast Asian country after nearly two years of border closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fully vaccinated travelers from South Korea will spend their holidays in hotel resorts without a mandatory 14-day quarantine. They were tested on arrival, and once the negative results are returned, they can join activities on the island including sightseeing, shopping and entertainment events that require vaccine certificates.

China-Constructed Urban Railway In Vietnam Launches Commercial Operation

HANOI, Nov 7 (NNN-VNA) – Authorities of the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, inaugurated the China-built Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line project yesterday, making it the first metro line in the country to start commercial operation.

The project was handed over to Hanoi by its investor, the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport, on the same day. All passengers on the metro line can enjoy free rides during the first 15 days of the commercial run.
