Moldova: Transnistria vows to seek recognition through dialogue, not war

CHISINAU, May 6. /TASS/: Transnistria will seek international recognition through negotiations rather than war, Vadim Krasnoselsky, the leader of the unrecognized republic, said on Friday.

He has called on reporters to refrain from fueling the conflict in the region that had been recently rocked by a number of terrorist attacks, with the official websites of local government agencies repeatedly blocked by DDoS-attacks.

Moldova cannot provide military aid to Ukraine, parliament chairman says

CHISINAU, May 5. /TASS/: It is impossible for Moldova to provide military assistance to Ukraine, Moldovan Parliament Chairman and leader of the country’s ruling Party of Action and Solidarity Igor Grosu said in response to a relevant request from Speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Ruslan Stefanchuk, Spokesperson for the Party of Action and Solidarity Adriana Vlas told TASS on Thursday.

"The parliament chairman stated that given Moldova’s neutral status, we cannot send military equipment to other countries," she pointed out.

Transnistria’s Interior Ministry confirms attempted terror act involving drone

CHISINAU, May 3. /TASS/: The Interior Ministry of self-proclaimed Transnistria has confirmed there was an attempt to stage a terrorist attack in the village of Mayak with a drone loaded with explosives.

"There was an attempt at a terrorist attack in the community of Mayak. Since last week’s explosions of antennas the TV and radio center’s security has been tightened. Last night, while patrolling the territory of the Transnistrian television and radio center border guards spotted a drone. It was neutralized," the Interior Ministry said on its Telegram channel.

Moldova accuses Russian army of trying to recruit its citizens

CHISINAU, April 14 (Reuters) - Moldova on Thursday accused Russia's army of trying to recruit Moldovan citizens, days after British military intelligence said that Moscow was trying to replenish its forces in Ukraine by recruiting in the breakaway Transdniestria region. 

Transdniestria is a narrow strip of land held by pro-Russian separatists that runs along the east of Moldova and comes to within about 25 miles (40 km) of the Ukrainian port of Odesa. 

Moldovan president refutes reports about redeployment of Russian troops in Transnistria

CHISINAU, April 4. /TASS/: The Moldovan authorities do not register an increase in the number of Russian servicemen in Transnistria, Moldovan President Maia Sandu told journalists on Monday.

Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff disseminated information that the deployment of military units in Transnistria was allegedly recorded to prepare an offensive. The Transnistrian authorities debunked this information.

U.S. top diplomat Blinken reassures Moldova amid refugee influx from Ukraine

CHISINAU, Moldova, March 6 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday reassured Moldova’s leaders that the United States would rally international opposition to Russian aggression "whenever and wherever" it occurs.

Speaking alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu on a tour through eastern Europe in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Blinken also said that the United States supported Moldova's aspirations to join the European Union but that the process would be decided by the EU.

Blinken vows US support to wary Moldova as Ukraine war rages

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday pledged America’s support to the small, Western-leaning former Soviet republic of Moldova that is coping with an influx of refugees from Ukraine and warily watching Russia’s intensifying war with its neighbor.

Blinken met with senior Moldovan officials who are appealing for international assistance in dealing with more than 120,000 refugees from Ukraine that it is now hosting while also seeking security reassurances against potential Russian aggression.

Moldovagaz informs government about new threat of gas supplies halt

CHISINAU, January 12. /TASS/: The gas distribution company Moldovagaz informed the Moldovan government about financial difficulties and a new threat of suspension of gas supplies by Gazprom due to the failure of the Moldovan side to fulfill its financial obligations, the government’s press service reported on Wednesday.

According to the press service, this issue was discussed at a meeting of the government’s Commission for Emergency Situations on Tuesday.

Moldova: Vadim Krasnoselsky wins presidential elections of unrecognized Transnistria — CEC

CHISINAU, December 13. /TASS/: Incumbent President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky has won the past presidential elections in the unrecognized republic securing 79.4% of the vote, Transnistria’s Central Election Commission (CEC) released the preliminary results on Monday.

"According to preliminary data, Vadim Krasnoselsky received 79.4% of the vote," the CEC reported. His opponent, lawmaker of the Grigoriopol district legislature, Sergey Pynzar secured 11.8%, another 8.8% of the ballots were declared invalid. The final turnout was 143,054 people (35.2%).

Gas crisis in Moldova exposes problems in relations with Russia - Moldovan President

CHISINAU, November 5. /TASS/: The gas crisis in Moldova has exposed problems in relations between Moscow and Chisinau, President of the republic, Maya Sandu said in an interview with the Moldova-1 TV channel on Thursday.

She was commenting on the difficulties the Moldovan delegation faced in negotiations on gas prices.
