Sriharikota(AP), Jul 22 (PTI) India's second moon mission Chandrayaan-2 aimed at landing a rover on unchartered Lunar South Pole was launched Monday with the country's most powerful geosynchronous launch vehicle successfully injecting the spacecraft in the Earth orbit after lift-off from the spacesport here Monday.

Hyderabad, July 16 (PTI): A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl under the pretext of marrying her at Ameenpur near here, police said Tuesday.

The accused, who stays near the victim's house, befriended her and later promised to marry her, the police said.

On July 11, he took her on a two-wheeler to a nearby godown and had a physical relationship with her, they said.

The teenager informed the matter to her mother after which she lodged a complaint with the police.

SRIHARIKOTA, India (AP) — India aborted the launch on Monday of a spacecraft intended to land on the far side of the moon less than an hour before liftoff.

The Chandrayaan-2 mission was called off when a “technical snag” was observed in the 640-ton, 14-story rocket launcher, Indian Space Research Organization spokesman B.R. Guruprasad said.

The countdown abruptly stopped at T-56 minutes, 24 seconds, and Guruprasad said that the agency would announce a revised launch date soon.

Machilipatnam (AP), Jul 10 (PTI) A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by her cousin in Machilipatnam town of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, police said Wednesday.

The incident came to light Wednesday evening after Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) CDPO S Jaya Lakshmi received information about it and accompanied the minor to the local Inaguduru police station to file a complaint.

Accused Mohan Kumar (21) has been detained for questioning, Machilipatnam Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehboob Basha told PTI.

Hyderabad, July 9 (PTI) A panel under the Ministry of Forest and Environment has recommended for "in-principle" permission for exploration of Uranium in Amrabad Tiger Reserve in Telangana.

The Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) under the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change made the recommendation at its meeting on May 22.

Hyderabad, Jun 25 (PTI) The Telangana Congress Tuesday demanded that the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) make its stand clear on the 'Triple Talaq' Bill.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) minorities wing chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail alleged that the Bill was nothing but an attempt by the BJP government to interfere in the Muslim Personal Law.

Therefore, the Congress has been opposing the Bill in Parliament, he said in a party release.

Hyderabad,June 23 (PTI) A minor girl was allegedly molested by a 60-year-old man here, following which the accused was arrested Sunday, police said.

The accused, who happens to be the neighbour, lured the girl when she was playing infront of her house Saturday evening and took her to the terrace of a building nearby and "misbehaved" with her, they said.

Another neighbour who noticed it, alerted the girl's parents, who along with some locals caught hold of the accused, they added.

Hyderabad, June 22 (PTI) Two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted, one of them by her father, in separate incidents in the city, police said Saturday.

A 40-year-old man, an auto-rickshaw driver, allegedly sexually assaulted his daughter at Neredmet in the city on June 17 and was arrested on Thursday on a complaint by his wife, police said.

A case under Indian Penal Code offence rape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been registered against him.

Hyderabad, Jun 20 (PTI): A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a worker in an under-construction building here Thursday, police said.

The 22-year-old accused took the girl playing near her hut to the building site and allegedly raped her, the police said based on a complaint lodged by her parents.

The girl's mother noticed blood stains on her clothes after she returned home and enquired about the matter. It was then the minor narrated the incident, an investigating official said.

As tensions over trade-related issues heat up between India and the US, Bussa Krishna, a 32-year-old farmer from Konne village in Jangaon district, unveiled the Trump statue and applied 'tilak' and garlanded it before performing "Abhishekam" and "Aarti" by chanting "Jai Jai Trump."
