Study in Argentina shows safety of combining Sputnik V with other vaccines

BUENOS AIRES, July 31. /TASS/: A study conducted in Argentina did not reveal any serious side effects when combining the first component of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V with drugs from AstraZeneca and Sinopharm, the government of province of Buenos Aires announced on Friday.

"The Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires reports that, according to preliminary results, during the ongoing safety study of combining the Sputnik V vaccine with the drugs AstraZeneca and Sinopharm, no serious side effects have been identified," the government announced.

Charges filed against former Argentine President Macri for helping overthrow Evo in Bolivia

BUENOS AIRES, July 18 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) — Argentine prosecutors have agreed to file charges against former President Mauricio Macri and several senior officials for allegedly supporting the overthrowing of Evo Morales in November 2019.

Former Ministers Patricia Bullrich (Security) and Óscar Aguar (defence) as well as then Argentine Ambassador to Bolivia, Normando Álvarez García are among the accused, together with top-ranking Gendarmería Nacional (Border Guard) chiefs.

Covid-19: Argentina slowly allows for return of more nationals stranded abroad

BUENOS AIRES, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Argentine government on Sunday called for national unity to overcome the pandemic, as it mourned more than 92,000 people who died from COVID-19 in the country.

"We are here to remember each of the people who were fatal victims of the pandemic. Each of them had a name, a life," said Argentine President Alberto Fernandez during a ceremony held at the Kirchner Cultural Center of Buenos Aires.

Argentina and Mexico recall ambassadors to Nicaragua out of concern for human rights violations

BUENOS AIRES, June 23 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) — The Governments of Mexico and Argentina recalled their respective ambassadors in Managua, where Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega is undertaking a dubious campaign towards his reelection by having his political challengers arrested.

Last week, the Organization of American States (OAS) passed a resolution condemning such practices in Nicaragua but such a decision has not endorsed Mexico and Buenos Aires, who abstained.

Bolivia receives another batch of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine - TV report

BUENOS AIRES, May 16. / TASS /: A batch of 400,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V COVID-19 jab has been delivered to Bolivia, the Telesur TV channel announced.

Covid-19: Argentine court orders city schools in Buenos Aires to open despite virus surge

BUENOS AIRES, April 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Schools in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires open on Monday morning after a court overruled a federal order requiring classes go on-line for two weeks amid a surge in cases that has brought hospitals to near collapse.

The Buenos Aires judge ruled in favor of a lawsuit filed by non-governmental parent and some teachers’ groups in the city, demanding a decree that suspended face-to-face classes in the capital region for 15 days be immediately nullified.

Argentine leader Alberto Fernandez says tests positive for coronavirus

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Argentine President Alberto Fernandez has tested positive for the new coronavirus, is waiting for the result to be confirmed and is in good spirits despite having a light fever, the first-term Peronist leader tweeted on Saturday.

“I am in good physical condition,” the president, who turned 62 on Friday, said in a tweet. He had received Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus early this year.
