Four tried in Slovak journalist's killing reject deal

PEZINOK, Slovakia (Reuters) - A Slovak businessman and three others appeared in court for the first time on Thursday to face charges over the murder of an investigative journalist and his fiancée, a case that triggered mass protests against corruption.

Jan Kuciak and Martina Kusnirova, both 27, were gunned down in their house outside the capital Bratislava in 2018.

As she arrived in court, Kusnirova’s mother demanded that Kuciak’s unfinished investigations be resolved.

Slovakia's first female president sworn in

2019 IIHF World Championship. Finland edges past Russia 1:0 in semifinal

BRATISLAVA, May 25. /TASS/: The Finnish national ice hockey team defeated on Saturday the squad from Russia 1-0 in the semifinals match of the 2019 IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Championship in Slovakia.

The match between the Russian and Finnish ice hockey teams at the 10,000-seat capacity Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava was attended by 9,085 spectators.

The score was opened in the 51st minute with Finnish forward Marko Anttila putting the puck into the opponents’ goal.

All players doping tests at 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship are negative

BRATISLAVA, May 14. /TASS/: Players of all national teams participating in the 2019 IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Championship underwent tests for banned performance enhancing drugs and all doping samples tested negative, the IIHF press service announced to TASS.

"All teams before the IIHF World Championship in Slovakia were checked by doping-control officers and all doping tests were negative," the press service reported.
