Islamabad, Jul 10 (PTI) The coronavirus death toll in Pakistan crossed the 5,000-mark on Friday with 75 new fatalities, the health ministry said.

According to the Ministry of National Health Services, another 2,751 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the national tally to 243,599.

Islamabad, Jul 4 (PTI) Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed on Friday that his government would complete the ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at "any cost" as the USD 60 billion project is a manifestation of the all-weather friendship between the two countries.

ISLAMABAD, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan summoned Indian charge d'affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia to the country on Wednesday to lodge protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian military along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir area, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said.

A youth was killed and five other civilians sustained serious injuries due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian forces along the LoC on Monday and Tuesday, a statement from the foreign ministry said.

Islamabad, Jun 24 (PTI) The pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane that crashed last month were not focussed and they were discussing coronavirus during the flight, the country's aviation minister told Parliament on Wednesday as he pointed out their "overconfidence and lack of concentration" as some of the reasons for the tragedy that killed 97 people on board.

The domestic flight from Lahore to Karachi crashed in a residential area near the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on May 22.

Islamabad, Jun 18 (PTI) Pakistan's coronavirus death toll crossed 3,000 with 118 more patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, while the total number of infections surpassed the 1,60,000-mark, the health ministry said on Thursday.

As many as 59,215 patients have recovered from the disease.

A total of 982,012 COVID-19 tests, including 31,500 in the last 24 hours, were conducted in the country, the ministry said.

With the detection of 5,358 new coronavirus cases, the total tally now stands at 160,118, it said.

Islamabad, Jun 18 (PTI) The Pakistan Army has said that at least four civilians were killed in alleged firing by the Indian security forces along the LoC.

Spokesperson of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Major General Babar Iftikhar, said that the firing targeted the civilian population in Nikial and Bagsar sectors along the Line of Control.

Indian Army troops initiated unprovoked CFV (ceasefire violations) in Nikial & Bagsar sectors along the LoC targeting civilian population, he said in a statement.

Washington, Jun 16 (PTI) Pakistan does not meet the minimum requirement of fiscal transparency, an official US report has said, alleging that the country did not adequately disclose all government-guaranteed debt obligations, including financing to state-owned enterprises for the projects under the USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The CPEC is a planned network of roads, railways, and energy projects linking China's resource-rich Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region with Pakistan's strategic Gwadar Port on the Arabian Sea.

Lahore, Jun 13 (PTI) The Pakistan government has formed a joint investigation team to probe the last month's plane crash in Karachi that killed 98 people.

The joint investigation team (JIT) was constituted on Friday, comprising officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), to probe into the Pakistan International Ailrlines (PIA) plane crash.

Islamabad, Jun 6 (PTI) The downloading and decoding of the black box of the Pakistani airplane that crashed in a densely populated area last month has been completed, the French investigators have said.

The Airbus A320 aircraft of the national carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had 91 passengers and a crew of eight when it crashed into the Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir on May 22, minutes before its landing at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport.

Ninety seven passengers died in the crash. Eleven people on ground were injured.
