TALLINN, April 23. /TASS/: Estonia is expelling a Russian diplomat as a sign of solidarity with the Czech Republic, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"As a sign of solidary [with the Czech Republic], Estonia will expel a Russian diplomat whose activities do not correspond to diplomatic activities agreed on in the Vienna Convention," the ministry said.

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — Estonia’s two biggest political parties clinched a deal on Sunday to form a new government to be led by a female prime minister for the first time in the Baltic country’s history, replacing the previous Cabinet that collapsed into a corruption scandal earlier this month.

The party councils of the the opposition, center-right Reform Party and the ruling. left-leaning Center Party voted in favor of joining a Cabinet headed by Reform’s prime minister-designate and chairwoman Kaja Kallas.

TALLINN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas on Wednesday submitted his resignation to Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid.

"Today, I made a decision to resign as Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia in the current situation," Ratas said in a Facebook post.

"This decision was made in consultations with the board of the Estonian Center Party and the Riigikogu (parliament) faction, as well as with the closest colleagues," said Ratas, who is also the chairman of the party.

TALLINN, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Estonia, Germany, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) at the UN Foundation signed a joint declaration of intent to cooperate on efforts to accelerate digital transformation and digitalization of governmental services for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly in low-resource settings, said the Estonian Ministry of Econimic Affairs and Communications on Tuesday.

TALLINN (Reuters) - Estonia’s far-right EKRE, part of the ruling coalition, has ousted the EU-member state’s third trade minister since last year’s elections amid political infighting as it battles the coronavirus outbreak.

Kaimar Karu was one of five ministers chosen by the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE), whose anti-immigration message helped the party more than double its support in the 2019 elections, winning broad support in poorer areas.

He was not a member of the party.

TALLINN, March 6. /TASS/: Several Estonian veterans of the Great Patriotic War will attend the celebratory events timed to the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Second World War (WWII) on May 9, 2020 in Moscow, Russian Ambassador to Estonia Alexander Petrov said on Friday.

"Two veterans of the Great Patriotic War will come to Moscow with accompanying persons," he told the ERR portal. "Five more veterans will come to St. Petersburg in May."

TALLINN, December 21. /TASS/: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes for better relations with Russia, he said in an interview with Estonia’s ERR News on Saturday.

"I am like many people in western Europe who always hope that we can have better relations with Russia. Always we hope," Johnson said.

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — A 34-year-old transport minister and lawmaker has been tapped to become Finland’s youngest prime minister ever and its third female government leader.

Finland’s ruling Social Democratic Party council voted 32-29 late Sunday to name Sanna Marin over rival Antti Lindtman to take over the government’s top post from incumbent Antti Rinne.

Having emerged as Finland’s largest party in the April election, the Social Democrats can appoint one of their own to the post of prime minister in the Nordic nation of 5.5 million.

03 Mar 2019; DW: Estonia's opposition Reform Party won the country's parliamentary election on Sunday, pulling off a surprising upset over center-left Prime Minister Juri Ratas's Center Party.

The economically liberal Reform Party secured 28.8 percent of the vote, according to final results posted online by the State Electoral Office.

Estonia's mainstream parties are polling ahead of the nationalist EKRE party, which still looks likely to make major gains. One of the main issues facing the country is the emigration of highly skilled workers.

Estonians headed to the polls on Sunday as Prime Minister Juri Ratas and his Center Party face off against the moderately conservative Reform Party. Also contesting the election is the far-right nationalist Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE), which looks poised to make major gains on its 2015 results.
