COLUMBUS (Ohio, US), April 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Fourteen people were injured as a roof at an off-campus house near Ohio State University in Columbus collapsed Saturday night, officials said.
First responders were called to East 13th Avenue, blocks away from the university’s campus, around 7:40 p.m. to reports of a roof collapse during a party.
All victims were transported to several nearby hospitals with unspecified injuries, but are in stable condition, the Columbus Fire Department said.
Some victims trapped under the debris were freed following the collapse, the department said.
Officials estimate between 14 to 45 people were on top of the roof when it collapsed, according to WHIO7.
Footage shows the house intact while the front porch roof was in ruins.
It is unclear how many of those injured attended the university.
It is unknown if the house had any structural issues prior to the collapse, the department said.
“We are monitoring this serious situation closely and assisting first responders in any way possible. Our thoughts are with those present and their friends and family,” The Ohio State University said.
