ADEN, Dec 17 (NNN-YPA) – At least three people were killed yesterday, in a landmine explosion, in Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, a government official said.

“The landmine explosion occurred, while a group of people, along with their children, were working on their farm in the Hays district of Hodeidah,” the local government official said, on condition of anonymity.

He said that, five others were critically injured in the explosion, and transferred to a nearby field hospital, to receive treatment.

Yemen’s joint government forces, accused in a statement, the Houthi militia of planting the landmine, while the Houthis made no comments about the explosion.

Last week, a convoy of the UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) survived another landmine explosion in Hodeidah.

Government demining experts said, more than one million landmines have been laid, since the outbreak of the civil war in late 2014, when the Houthi militia took control of several northern provinces and forced the Yemeni government out of the capital, Sanaa.
