India: Jajmau's Saraiya residents raise issue of 'Sadak nahi, vote nahi'

Kanpur: "Sadak nahi, vote nahi," is written on the banner at the entrance of Saraiya lane in Jajmau locality here.

This is a way to express resentment, say, the people of the area.

This older lane seemed to have not been repaired for long. Just at the entrance, a big mound can be seen even to this day, they further added.

It was supposed to be dug up for some purpose but the work remained incomplete. The ire of the people persists on account of the negligence.

The authorities concerned do not care for the trouble being faced by the residents of the lane that connects older localities of the Jajmau area.

How has the location named Saraiya? It is so because of its older name Ramrai Ki Sarai, as denizens confirmed. The vestige of Sarai is no longer existing. On enquiry, no body comes forward to explain about the historicity.

In view of the assembly elections, the people have tried to raise their problem. But will their voice reach the ears of those at the helm of affairs? This location falls into the precincts of Kanpur Cantt Constituency.
