20 May 2021; MEMO: Kuwait yesterday launched a public aid campaign to support the Palestinian people, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against them.
The announcement came in a joint press conference by Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs, Hana Al-Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Cooperation, Nasser Al-Subaih, and Palestinian Ambassador Rami Tahboub.
Al-Hajri said the campaign comes within the framework of the State of Kuwait's commitment to advocating and supporting Palestine and standing by its people, noting that it came under the directives of the Kuwaiti cabinet.
"Charities organize many donation campaigns throughout the year for Palestine as permanent projects," she added.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti assistant foreign minister affirmed that the Palestine cause is a matter of principle and a public policy in the state, adding: "What we are doing is an extension of what all previous governments have done," calling on "citizens and residents to exert efforts and support the campaign".
According to human rights sources, the Israeli army has targeted civilian homes, residential towers, and media institutions as well as infrastructure in its latest aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, killing over 230 Palestinians, including 65 children and 36 women, and wounding 1,500 others.
