KABUL, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Four commuters lost their lives and 19 others sustained injury in two road accidents in Afghanistan, officials said on Friday.
In the first crash which occurred in Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province late Thursday night, three travelers including two children were killed and 11 others injured, some in critical condition, provincial police spokesman Hafiz Sabir said.
The official blamed reckless driving for the accident, saying irresponsible driving often claims the lives of innocent commuters in the province.
In a similar accident, a mini-bus turned turtle in the western Ghor province on Thursday night, leaving one dead and injured eight others, police spokesman in the province Abdul Rahman Badri said.
Ramshackle roads, lack of security measures during travel, old vehicles and reckless driving are often blamed for road mishaps in Afghanistan.
