Saudi Arabia to turn highest peak into tourism destination

RIYADH, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia on Monday launched a plan to turn the kingdom's highest peak into a tourism destination.

The plan aims to develop the southwestern mountainous region of Soudah and parts of Rijal Almaa governorate into "Soudah Peaks" -- a luxury mountain tourism destination 3,015 meters above sea level, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Saudi crown prince says he does not care about 'sportswashing' claims

Sept 22 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said he does not care about allegations of "sportswashing" against the kingdom and that he will continue funding sport if it adds to the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

The allegation of "sportswashing" is levelled at countries perceived to be using sport to improve their tarnished image abroad.

"If sportswashing (is) going to increase my GDP by 1%, then we'll continue doing sportswashing," the crown prince told Fox News.

15 September 2023; MEMO: Saudi Arabia invited Yemen’s Houthi delegation to Riyadh to continue ceasefire talks, Reuters reported the state news agency SPA saying yesterday.

The kingdom wanted to resume its and Oman’s efforts to “reach a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and a sustainable political solution acceptable to all Yemeni parties,” SPA said.

Saudi Arabia, U.S. Signed MoU To Establish Asia-Europe Green Transit Corridors

RIYADH, Sept 11 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, to establish intercontinental green transit corridors.

The MoU, signed on Friday, provides a framework for developing a protocol for establishing green transit corridors through the kingdom, to connect Asia and Europe.

This project aims to facilitate the transit of renewable electricity and clean hydrogen, via transmission cables and pipelines, as well as, constructing rail linkages, said the report.

Saudi Arabia Discovers Cultural Relics In Ancient Mining Site

RIYADH, Sept 9 (NNN-SPA) – The Saudi Heritage Commission, announced yesterday, the discovery of cultural relics and monuments in an ancient mining site, in the south-western al-Bahah region.

The discoveries were made during the 2023 excavation season in al-Ma’malah, described by the commission as “one of the most important old mining sites in Saudi Arabia,” without detailing the era to which the site belongs.

Saudi Arabia extends voluntary oil cuts to year end

07 September 2023; MEMO: Saudi Arabia will extend its voluntary oil production cut of one million barrels per day (bpd) until the end of the year, the kingdom’s energy ministry announced yesterday.

The ministry said in a statement that oil production from October to December will be approximately nine million (bpd).

Saudi Sovereign Fund Sells Stakes Of National Gas Company

RIYADH, Sept 7 (NNN-SPA) – The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has completed the sale of its 10.92-percent stake in the National Gas and Industrialisation Company, for 491.19 million Saudi riyals (around 131 million U.S. dollars), it was reported yesterday.

The shares were sold on Tuesday, through a private sale transaction to Jadwa Investment Company, which acted as a manager and bought the stake for “its managed investment funds and its clients’ portfolios,” local news website, Arabian Business, reported.
