Uzbekistan Eyes Two- Billion USD Textile Exports In 2019

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, Sept 10 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Uzbekistan plans to bring the volume of textile exports to two billion U.S. dollars this year, a Uzbek official said.

“Uzbekistan has turned from an exporter of raw materials into a real supplier of high value-added textile products,” Ilhom Haydarov, chairman of Uzbek Textile Industry Association, told reporters.

The industry is now completely focused on export, he said, adding that, last year Uzbekistan exported textile products worth 1.6 billion U.S. dollars.

Uzbekistan, China wrap up joint anti-terror drills

TASHKENT, May 16 (Xinhua): The Uzbek National Guard and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force concluded their two-week-long joint anti-terror exercise code-named "Cooperation-2019" at the Forish field training base in the Jizzakh region on Wednesday.

The high level and the quality of the joint exercise have strengthened the friendship and mutual trust between the National Guard of Uzbekistan and People's Armed Police Force of China, said Bakhodir Toshmatov, the commander of the Uzbek National Guard, at a ceremony marking the accomplishment of the joint drills.

Decision to replace ambassador does not mean crisis in Russia-Belarus

TASHKENT, May 3. /TASS/: The appointment of Russia’s new ambassador to Belarus does not indicate any crisis in relations between the two countries, which continue to be partners and allies, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told reporters on Friday.

"I am dead against interpreting all that as a kind of crisis. That’s an ordinary move. Various incidents occur in diplomatic practice," he said.

"Relations between Belarus and Russia have a strategic partnership nature, these are allied [relations]," Karasin stressed.

Russia, U.S. have "incompatible" positions on Venezuela: Lavrov

MOSCOW, May 2 (Xinhua): Russia and the United States have "incompatible" positions on the Venezuelan affairs, but Moscow is ready to talk with Washington, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.

"Although U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and I agreed to continue contacts, I do not see how it is possible to combine our positions," Lavrov told reporters in Uzbekistan's capital city of Tashkent.

Lavrov denounces US’ statement about Russia’s role in Venezuela as wrong

TASHKENT, May 2. /TASS/: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has denounced the statement of Russia’s role in the situation in Venezuela made by the US representatives as untrue.

"The enumeration all that official representatives for the American administration say about Venezuela leads to endless questions, and as a rule, diplomatically speaking, the answer to all these questions would be ‘wrong,’" the top diplomat said, answering a TASS question.
