Palestine: Hamas's al-Qassam Brigades says it captured Israeli soldiers in Gaza

26 May 2024; MEMO: Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced Sunday that it captured Israeli soldiers during an operation in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reports.

But Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee denied the claim on X, saying that there was “no incident of soldier capturing.”

UK: Amnesty condemns Israeli airstrikes on Rafah as ‘war crimes’

29 May 2024; MEMO: Amnesty International UK strongly condemned on Tuesday the recent Israeli air strikes on Rafah, describing them as “horrific”. The rights organisation accused Israeli forces of escalating attacks in the occupied Gaza Strip “in defiance of international law,” Anadolu has reported.

Israel military permits the return of Israelis to settlements evacuated in 2005

22 May 2024; MEMO: The Israeli military this morning granted permission for Israelis to return to three former settlements in the northern occupied West Bank they had been prohibited from entering as part of the 2005 Disengagement Plan.

The three settlements, Sa-Nur, Ganim, and Kadim, are located near the Palestinian cities of Jenin and Nablus in the Occupied Territory.

Palestine: Hamas’s military wing claims it killed 5 Israeli soldiers in Gaza

22 May 2024; MEMO: Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, announced Wednesday that five Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip were either killed or injured while fighting with the group, Anadolu Agency reports.

“Al-Qassam fighters managed to snipe 3 Zionist soldiers in northern Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, and killed 2 Zionist soldiers at point-blank range in the Brazil neighbourhood south-east of Rafah city,” it said in a statement.

Palestine: Illegal Israeli settlers attack Palestinian village in West Bank, set fire to farmlands

22 May 2024; MEMO: Illegal Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village in the northern Occupied West Bank on Wednesday and set fire to farmlands, according to witnesses, Anadolu Agency reports.

Illegal settlers attacked with gunfire and rocks Palestinian residents in the village of Asira Al-Qibliya near Nablus and set ablaze farmlands there, witnesses said.

Palestinian villagers resisted the attackers, triggering clashes between the two sides, they added.

Israel withdraws Nahal Brigade to rest before Rafah invasion

26 April 2024; MEMO: Israel’s Nahal Brigade has withdrawn from the Gaza Strip and has been replaced by the 679th Armored Brigade and the 2nd Infantry Brigade.

Hebrew sources reported that over the last three months, the Nahal Brigade was assigned to secure the corridor separating the Gaza Strip.

The occupation army claimed that the brigade’s soldiers killed around 1,000 resistance fighters in the corridor and destroyed 20 kilometres of tunnels.

Palestine: Hamas's military wing targets Israel surveillance site in central Gaza

26 April 2024; MEMO: The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said, Thursday, it targeted an Israeli surveillance site with mortar shells in the central Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reports.

It said it targeted a newly established Israeli site for surveillance and espionage east of the Juhur Al-Deek area with mortar shells.

There has been no comment by the Israeli army.

Khan Yunis a ghost town with children living amid rubble, Save the Children says

25 April 2024; MEMO: Children are living amid rubble in streets of total devastation in Khan Yunis, the second largest city in Gaza, according to Save the Children staff returning to the city for the first time since the war started over six months ago.

Prior to 7 October, the city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip had a population of more than 200,000 people, including about 100,000 children.

Palestinian Authority To “Reconsider” Relations With U.S.

RAMALLAH, Apr 21 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said that, the Palestinian Authority will reconsider bilateral relations with the United States “in light of its unyielding support for Israel.”

He made the remarks in an interview, after the U.S. vetoed a draft United Nations resolution advocating for full membership for Palestine in the organisation.

New Palestine government should prepare for legislative, presidential elections: President Abbas

01 April 2024; MEMO: The new Palestinian government, led by Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, should prepare for holding legislative and presidential elections in all Palestinian governorates, especially in East Jerusalem, President Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday, Anadolu news agency reported.

Abbas’s remarks came on the occasion of the new government’s swearing-in ceremony, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
